Who We Are
The ON TARGET Fencing Team of Northern Ohio is a group of Foil, Epee and Sabre fencers from Erie, Lorain
, Lake, Medina, Summit and Cuyahoga County. We have classes in Akron Firestone High School, Berea Recreation Center, Berea-Brookpark, Hawken Upper School, Hudson (2 classes), Kenston-Bainbridge, Laurel School, Macedonia, Mentor,
North Ridgeville (3 classes on three days), Orange, St. Joseph’s Academy, Solon and Streetsboro. Registered with, and insured by the United States Fencing Association, it
is an official fencing club. Head Coach Tom Nagy, a 36 year fencing veteran, is certified by the United States
Fencing Coaches Association as an instructor in foil. Rich Hamper is epee coach. Jeff Rodachy is Three Weapon Coach. Bob Nagorney is sabre coach.
ON TARGET Team Captains
These are positions appointed by Head Coach Tom Nagy. They shall run during the USFA year of August 1 to July 31.

- Duties and Responsibilities at Competitions:
- Arrange transportation to and from competitions for team members who cannot provide their own.
- Ensure team members have necessary equipment, paperwork, and money for competition.
- Guide team members through registration and equipment check at competition.
- Lead warm up exercises and bouting prior to competition.
- Explain format of competition and strip assignments to team members.
- Set Fencing team event fencing order, and make substitutions as necessary.
- Help team members during bouts, ie. coaching, cheering, consoling, calming, appeals to Bout Committee, first aid.
- Give Head Coach in Writing, Results of Competition, ie. Name, W-L record, Place.
- Pack up all equipment before leaving competition.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Head Coach.
- Duties and Responsibilities at practice:
- In absence of Head Coach, lead warm up exercises, footwork, drills and bouting. The most experienced Fencer with ON TARGET will have priority.
- Distribute equipment as necessary.
- Be liaison between team members and Head Coach for complaints, problems, etc.
- Show good example in behavior, effort and comportment.
- Keep peace between team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Head Coach.
- Miscellaneous : Team Captains fencing in another weapon will be under the jurisdiction of the That Team’s Captain.
